Based on VET2Business Project’s main objectives to tackle high youth unemployment and skills mismatches in the Hotel and Catering Sector, as well as develop new innovative tools that will enhance communication and cooperation between the VET system and the Sectoral Businesses, the Project is conducting a qualitative research in identifying the:
- Effectiveness of existing methods and tools to tackle the phenomenon of youth unemployment in Hotels and Catering Sector;
- Main weaknesses of current offered VET curricula in the two countries;
- Trends, skills, training needs and challenges to improve accessibility in Tourism services;
- How policy makers, education providers and employers address current skills shortages and future challenges in the Sector;
The qualitative analysis will focus mainly on the conduction of focus groups and in-depth interviews. On Friday 8th of June 2018 was conducted the 1st focus group within the framework of VET2Business Project. The target group of this specific focus group included trainers, education professionals and experts under the Coordination of AKMI SA.
The next focus groups will include the opinion and expertise of managers and executives in the Hospitality & Catering sector as well as the opinion of the students.
